Here’s some additional requirements for the following states in which sales tax isn't collected on orders. Please note - This list may not reflect all state requirements.
State Requirement
Alabama If tax is not collected on your order, the state of Alabama requires that an Alabama purchaser file a sales and use tax return at the end of the year reporting all taxable purchases that were not taxed and pay the taxes associated with those purchases. The purchase is not exempt from Alabama sales or use tax merely because it is made over the Internet.
Puerto Rico You may owe Puerto Rico use tax on your purchase if tax was not collected on your order. You can file an Import Declaration and Tax on Imports Monthly Return and report and pay any use tax due.
South Dakota Tax may be reported and paid on the South Dakota use tax form. The use tax form and corresponding instructions are available on the South Dakota Department of Revenue website.
Vermont You may owe Vermont use tax on your purchase if tax is not collected on your order. The state of Vermont requires that a Vermont purchaser pay use tax due on nonexempt purchases on his or her tax return.
